A little bit of magic

Anything that removes the need for the old style metal braces must include a little bit of magic.

As with traditional orthodontics, the aim of Invisalign is to correct orthodontic problems by aligning the teeth and jaw.

Invisalign at Richmond

At Sheen Dental in Richmond, Invisalign is one of the solutions offered to correct tooth misalignment.

Invisalign is often referred to as invisible orthodontics as this type of treatment offers the choice of wearing clear aligners that are barely noticeable as compared to the “train tracks” traditional braces.

The technology behind invisible orthodontics is highly advanced and often gives patients a much shorter treatment time, depending on your individual case.

The Invisalign process

The first step is to meet with a Sheen Dental dentist in Richmond to discuss your needs. If you are a suitable candidate for Invisalign, impressions of your teeth will be taken and sent off for processing.

A 3D computerised representation will be created from the impressions of your teeth. Based on the recommended treatment plan, you will be shown how your teeth will change and realign during the process and what final results you can expect.

Invisalign aligners are generally worn for two weeks before you progress to the next stage and the number of aligners needed depends on the patient.

Invisalign aligners should be worn for 20-22 hours per day and only removed to eat, drink or clean your teeth. We will see you for regular check-ups on how the process is going.

The benefits

Invisalign treatment is more comfortable than traditional braces because they use less force and make use of modern wire technology. The treatment time is generally reduced and check-up appointments are usually further apart than what is required for traditional braces.

Alternatives to Invisalign

If Invisalign is not suitable for you, Incognito or Lingual Braces may be recommended. This will be dependent on recommendations for the orthodontist. Incognito braces are placed behind the teeth so no-one will ever know you are wearing them.
