Why you should ask about veneers at Sheen Dental in Richmond

Over time your teeth take quite a bit of punishment, from your cleaning routines (or lack of) to your diet, with general wear and tear at some point the cracks are going to appear. But when they do, our team at Sheen Dental in Richmond will be able to help you out and recommend a treatment like veneers to fix the problem.

What are veneers?

If you’re not familiar with them, these are essentially a tiny piece of porcelain that will be placed over cracked or damaged teeth to give the appearance of more healthy-looking teeth. At Sheen Dental we will ensure that your new dental cap is fitted with the utmost professionalism, speed and accuracy to give your smile the boost it deserves.

What the procedure involves

The fitting of these veneers is a relatively quick process, here’s a brief outline of what you can generally expect.

Your dentist will usually inspect the area and then match up the colour of your surrounding teeth with a colour of cap that will match and blend in. Then a mould will be taken of the tooth being covered, a small amount of enamel will be removed and in this area a porcelain cap will be inserted. The cap is fitted with a dental adhesive and blasted with a special light to cure it and bond it to your tooth.

The entire thing shouldn’t take too long, although if you’re having more veneers fitted at the same time you could be sat in our practice for a little longer.

Will it hurt?

One of the most common questions we get at Sheen Dental in Richmond about treatments is whether they will hurt or not.

For veneers you can expect a small amount of discomfort, but this is usually when the dentist is removing a layer of enamel to fit the cap in as this can make the tooth a little sensitive for a while. Other than that, it’s a fairly quick and non-invasive treatment that will leave you with that natural smile that you deserve.

Advantages of veneers

There are a couple of benefits to having the veneer treatment performed. To begin with, the caps are pretty sturdy, so you won’t have to come to multiple appointments to keep track of its progress. Also, they can be cleaned just like any other tooth, but be careful of how hard you press the brush as you could dislodge the cap if you’re not careful.

Finally, they provide a more natural and neater look to your smile that you can happily show off to all your friends and family.

So as you can see, having cracked or damaged teeth is not the end of the world anymore. There are still plenty of options for you to choose from to fix your problems and having veneers fitted is just one of them. If you want to improve your smile, then ask your dentist on your next visit to the practice to see what we can do for you.
