Is it time for you to see a dentist Richmond?

Are you finding it hard to remember the last time you visited a dentist? Or maybe you have had a bad childhood experience which has put you off visiting the dentist altogether. At Sheen Dental, we understand the importance of visiting a dentist, which is why we have worked hard to create a comfortable, welcoming and professional atmosphere, so that all our patients have a pleasant experience with us. So if you are located nearby and are looking for an experienced dentist Richmond, we invite you to our practice, Sheen Dental.

About us at Sheen Dental

Based in Richmond, our practice Sheen Dental has been providing high quality dental treatments for over twenty-five years. Our experienced team of dentists and dental professionals are available six days a week and ensure that every patient they encounter receives a friendly and professional service whilst taking into account every patient’s individual needs.

What to expect as a new patient at Sheen Dental

If you have not visited our practice before, as a new patient, you can expect a comprehensive oral examination carried out by our dentist Richmond at your first appointment.

You will be asked for both your medical and dental history which is important as it allows us to not only give you the best dental care suited for your needs, but should you have any existing health conditions knowledge of this will help us to identify whether your oral health is affected by the illness. Some health conditions which can affect your oral health include asthma, epilepsy and heart problems.

You will also be asked about your lifestyle choices, for example if you smoke or not. Smoking not only can weaken your immune system, but smokers are three to six times more likely to develop gum disease, which can result in losing your teeth if it is not detected early enough.

This is why at your first appointment with us, our dentist Richmond will also examine your gums, teeth and soft tissues. You will also be screened for oral cancer and intraoral photos may be taken. Intraoral photos help our dentist to determine and diagnose any dental conditions in your mouth. They also help us to show you exactly what we see when assessing your teeth and for us to recommend the best dental treatment option for you.

At Sheen Dental we offer a wide range of dental treatments within preventive, restorative, cosmetic and general dentistry along with orthodontics. So after assessing your teeth, if our dentist advises on some further treatment you can rest assured that we will be able to help to resolve your dental problems.

If you are a smoker but have decided you would like to stop, we have a smoking cessation advisor at our practice who will be able to provide support and guide you throughout your journey to stop smoking.

Smoking cessation at Sheen Dental

As mentioned earlier, smoking weakens an individual’s immune system. It can cause a lack of oxygen in the bloodstream and this can all increase the risk of infection and gum disease.

By stopping smoking however, you will notice improved oral health whilst also reducing the risk of mouth cancer.
