The secret to getting your teeth and gums as healthy as can be!

When you’re brushing and flossing your teeth twice daily, you know that you are doing the best for your teeth and gums. Swilling some mouthwash around afterwards is also a great way to keep your mouth as healthy as possible. If you throw in visiting the dentist regularly for check-ups, then you are certainly doing a great job. At Sheen Dental, we encourage our patients to go the extra mile to prevent periodontal disease or gingivitis developing by regularly visiting our hygienist Richmond. We have been established for over 25 years and we pride ourselves in giving our patients a friendly and knowledgeable service, alongside using the latest technology for our treatments.

How our hygienists can help

We have two dental hygienists who are both GDC registered and highly experienced in giving great care to all of our patients. They can assist with a range of issues, such as support with how to clean your teeth and gums efficiently, advice on how to give up smoking which can be a major cause of teeth discolouration and more serious issues such as oral cancer, as well as removing all plaque from your teeth. By visiting our hygienist Richmond, you will be getting a thorough check-up for the health of your teeth and gums, as well as treatment to ensure that you leave with the cleanest mouth possible.

What happens in a consultation?

When you come to see our hygienist Richmond, you will be able to sit back and relax as they examine your mouth for any signs of periodontal disease or gingivitis. If left unchecked and untreated, these issues could cause bad breath and lead to tooth decay and tooth loss, as well as visible staining on your teeth. During this examination, a record will be kept of where there are any issues, so these can be monitored each time you visit. The hygienist will be able to offer you advice on brushing and flossing techniques to help you recover from any issues that are found.

During this consultation, our hygienists will also use professional grade cleaning tools to thoroughly clean and rid your teeth of any plaque. This scale and polish should leave your mouth feeling squeaky clean and fresh - think of it as an MOT and service for your mouth!

Why it’s worth a visit

We understand that you are busy and finding time to visit the hygienist may feel like an extra chore on a very long list, however, by regularly having a hygienist appointment, it should reduce the risk of you needing a lot more time sat in the dentist’s chair for more serious treatments that could be required if your teeth and gums are not looked after properly. Fillings, tooth loss and tooth decay can all be avoided a lot easier by regularly having a hygienist appointment and getting your teeth cleaned thoroughly.
