Give yourself a Spring clean

How are your new year’s resolutions going? With Spring approaching it’s a great time to look back on the start of the year and see how far you’ve come – and a chance to shake things up again. If you promised to look after your health, wellbeing or self-esteem in 2018, then a trip to the dentist in Richmond could be in order.

At Sheen Dental in Richmond, one of our areas of focus is cosmetic dentistry. As well as providing great looking teeth and giving you a confidence boost, cosmetic dental treatments also improve oral health, as straighter, fuller teeth are easier to clean and less likely to harbour a build-up of disease causing bacteria.

From root to crown

Dental implants are the only method of tooth restoration that replaces the tooth root as well as the crown.

The implant is a small titanium post that is fixed into the jawbone in place of the missing tooth root. Titanium is used because it is a miraculous metal. The body registers it as natural tissue and so grows blood vessels and bone around it. This secures it in place and means that, with proper care, implants can be a permanent fixture in your mouth.

After a healing period of about two months, the implant is secure and our dentist in Richmond can fix the replacement tooth onto the implant.

Brighten up your smile

Our other cosmetic treatments include: teeth whitening, teeth straightening and veneers.

We offer the Zoom system of teeth whitening, which can either be done in a one-hour appointment in the dentist’s chair or over two weeks at home. Either way, we create custom-made trays that fit snugly to your teeth, so the whitening gel doesn’t leak onto your gums.

Invisalign is a system of transparent braces that are almost invisible, and removable. There are no brackets and wires – only thin, clear plastic mouth guards that you replace every 7-10 days, as they gradually nudge your teeth into position.

Veneers cover up stained, chipped or gappy teeth. They are like false nails for the teeth – thin sheaves of porcelain that our dentist in Richmond will bond to the front of your tooth with dental adhesive.
