Common misconceptions about braces

There are lots of different types of braces these days. At one time, however, the range of available options was quite small. People can be forgiven for thinking that their choices remain limited if they want to have their teeth straightened. Many patients are put off by their perception of braces.

With modern realignment options, like Invisalign in SW14, many off-putting ideas about braces simply no longer reflect the reality of what is available from a clinic like Sheen Dental.

They have to be fixed to the teeth

Traditional braces, and some modern options, are fixed to the smile for the duration of a teeth straightening treatment. However, this isn’t the only possible way to realign your teeth. Removable aligners are also an option. Invisalign in SW14 is a system that uses aligners that fit over the tops of your teeth. You wear them for most of every day but you remove them to eat and to clean your teeth. This means that you do not have to compromise when it comes to your food choices and you can be braces-free for brief periods if you need to be.

They compromise your look

Some types of braces do have a strong impact on the look. They are often shiny and metal. Invisalign in SW14 is an option that you may be able to work with that does not have the same detrimental effect on the appearance of the teeth. Perhaps one of the most striking things about Invisalign aligners from Sheen Dental is that they are practically invisible when you wear them. They sit very close to the teeth and they are made from clear, BPA-free plastic.

They take a long time to work

Each patient is different and so there is no way to tell before consultation exactly how long you would need to wear Invisalign in SW14 from Sheen Dental. However, if you are looking for cosmetic adjustments and it is possible to focus on the teeth that are visible when you smile, we can often achieve results in a shorter time than you expect. We can let you know how long your treatment is likely to take after your first visit to us.
