At Sheen Dental, Richmond, braces are something we can offer to you and your family. Whether it is for your children, who are developing teeth that need a little assistance to get the best from them, or for you to fine tune your smile and get the look you have always wanted.
There are so many options available for braces in today’s world that it can be tough to choose what is right for you and your family. Our team can advise you on all the options and take into account the factors that matter to you when they are making recommendations.
Fixed versus removable
Generally speaking, fixed braces are able to exert more force and correct more serious issues than removable braces. In Richmond, at our clinic, your dentist will make a thorough assessment of your mouth and your needs. Sometimes you can be offered a combination of removable and fixed braces at different times during your treatment.
If you need to have fixed braces there are still options from metal to ceramic to tooth-coloured wires and brackets that blend with your teeth making them more discreet. You might even consider lingual braces which are fixed to the back of the teeth for complete invisibility to the observer.
Removable braces still need to be worn for a large portion of the day and only taken out to eat or to clean them.
Start to finish
The total time taken to create the result you want can be from six months to two years or occasionally more. During that time, you will have regular visits to the dentist to check on progress and make any necessary adjustments. They will also help you to keep your oral hygiene at a high standard with cleaning and advice on how you can take care of your braces at home.
After your braces are removed or you are able to stop wearing them, you will need to wear a retainer for at least one year in order to allow the teeth to stabilise in their new positions.
As you can see, you do need have a dentist that you feel comfortable with and we want to offer you a safe and compassionate environment to have this experience. We hope you choose to have braces in Richmond at our clinic, Sheen Dental.
